In the past Salesforce.com had dominated the Software as a Service (SaaS) realm, and Intuit has taken its competition head on.
Intuit announced that they would build out an on-demand network of services linked to Quickbooks. The VP and general manager of Intuit at the time announced that “We want to have solutions that go significantly beyond accounting and bookkeeping.” And would want to provide a single platform for all these services to be used at.
They released their field service and inventory management applications, and sales management applications for Intuit to sell in their platform. Intuit paid channel partners a 15% ongoing commission on the sales of subscriptions on the sales that they make.
